Custom Resources Box

Various organizations have elected to add an extra box to the calendar homepage to display links that are unique to the organization, such as other external calendars or contact links.

This resource box is put in place below the filter list on the calendar homepage. It can replace the default Share Events box or go above or below.

How To Add a Custom Resources Box

These can be added using Localist’s Theme Editor. If you  don’t have a custom HTML theme active:

  1. Navigate via Settings > Appearance
  2. Select the +Add Theme button
  3. Enter a name and keep the Copy From set to Default.
  4. Back on the Appearance landing page, select the new theme’s name.
  5. On edit theme page you will see a list of files on the right hand side. Scroll down and select _add_event_block under the HOMEPAGE file.
  6. In this file you can modify the text of the current boxes (generally on lines 6-13) and/or remove them to make a new one. You can just copy and paste what’s present to create a new box then just change the title and body text.
  7. Select the blue Save Changes button then hit Preview in the blue bar. Preview will take you to your calendar homepage so you can see the change.
  8. Once you’ve confirmed that the change is correct, select Activate in the blue bar on the edit theme page. (Back on the appearance landing page you’ll see the new theme listed as active as well).

Note: This  will not change the overall theming/SILK/CSS that is already in place. Activating this theme will only apply the new change to the file you modified, so in this case, the only thing changing will be the text/boxes on the right side of the homepage.
